Stand-By Mode is an opt-in power-saving feature for Pebble watches. When the watch detects it isn't being worn, it disables Bluetooth (as well other sensors - like heartrate) to extend battery life, then automatically reconnects when you pick it up again.
What it does
After 30 minutes of no motion, the watch disables Bluetooth (similar to airplane mode).
When you pick the watch up, motion is detected and Bluetooth re-enables, reconnecting to your phone.
Your watch draws about 50% less power while in stand-by.
When to use it
Stand-By Mode is designed for the hours your watch is off your wrist, most commonly the 8 hours overnight. There's no reason for the Pebble to run at full power on your nightstand, so Stand-By lets it idle until you put it back on in the morning.
How to enable it (on your watch)
1. Press the Select button (right side, middle button) to open the menu.
2. Navigate down to System.
3. Press Select again.
4. Toggle Stand-By Mode to On.
How to enable it (on your phone)
Tap the settings icon on the bottom right of your phone's Pebble app
Tap the "watch" tab on the top
Tap "other"
Check the box next to Stand-By Mode
That's it! Your watch will now enter stand-by automatically after 30 minutes without movement.
What to expect
The watch face still updates while in stand-by β only the radio is off.
Notifications won't push to your watch while stand-by is active (Bluetooth is disabled).
Reconnection is automatic on pickup; no buttons needed.
If the watch doesn't reconnect after motion, press any button to force-wake it.
