Hi! You were sent to this article because you're experiencing problems with battery life on your Pebble Round 2. This guide will walk you through our process for upgrading your watch to the latest PRF (Pebble Recovery Firmware) version, as well as running our manufacturing tests for discharging the battery.

Upgrading Recovery

Prerequisite: Your watch should be in PebbleOS, meaning that you're fully booted into PebbleOS and are viewing your watchface or launcher. You should not see a QR code on-screen. Here's what it'll look like in the Pebble app, as well as what your watch might look like in this state:

Here's how to upgrade to the latest version of PRF. Follow the instructions EXACTLY as outlined below:

  1. Make sure your watch is Connected in the Pebble mobile app. You should NOT see Connected (Recovery).

  2. Head to https://github.com/coredevices/PebbleOS/releases/download/v4.26.0/recovery_getafix_dvt_v4.26.0.pbz to download the v4.26 PRF file.

  3. After you've downloaded the file, find it in your phone's file manager and tap on it. You should be presented with an option to open it in the Pebble app, do this.

  4. Your watch should now display a progress bar on-screen. Wait for this to finish.

  5. After the update is complete, wait for your watch to reconnect to your phone. You should be in PebbleOS as described previously.

  6. On your watch, go to Settings -> System -> Information.

  7. Scroll down to Recovery. You should see v4.26.0.

Test Aging

Prerequisite: v4.26 PRF installed.

The aging test will fully charge your Pebble Round 2, then fully discharge to test its maximum battery capacity. This process takes about 10-12 hours to complete, so it may be best to complete overnight. Here's how to start the test:

  1. On your watch, hold the Back, Up, and Select keys until you see your watch reboot. It should display a QR code.

  2. Hold the Select (middle) key for approximately 10 seconds, or until you see the text at the bottom of the screen change to a version number. You should see v4.26.0. If you don't, complete the Upgrading Recovery section again.

  3. Hold the Up and Select keys until you see a test menu appear. It should look like this:

  4. Scroll down to Aging Test. Select it.

  5. Plug in your watch to begin the test. The first stage will require your watch to be plugged in for approximately 4 hours, so leave your watch during this time and wait for the "Remain" timer to count down fully. Do not unplug your watch, or the test will fail.

  6. When prompted to do so, unplug your watch. Wait for the 10 hour timer to finish.

  7. After the test has finished, scroll to 'Finished Tests' in the menu, then RESULTS. Select it.

  8. Take a photo of the QR code you see on your watch. Send it to the bug report thread you've been using to communicate with Pebble support by tapping 'Attach files' at the top of the screen.
