Battery Life Tips + Tricks

Getting the Best Battery Life

Your new Pebble is built to last weeks on a single charge, but how you use it makes a real difference. The biggest factor will be your watchface.

Watchfaces use very different amounts of power

Every time the screen redraws, your watch wakes up the CPU and refreshes the display. A watchface that redraws once per minute sips power. A watchface that redraws once per second, or runs constant animations, can drain your battery several times faster.

High-drain watch face traits to watch for:

  • A seconds hand or live seconds counter (updates the screen 60Γ— more often than a minutes-only face)

  • Animated backgrounds: flowing particles, weather scenes, looping characters

  • Live data widgets that refresh constantly (ticking stock prices, real-time step counters, scrolling tickers)

  • Heavy use of color gradients or detailed bitmaps that have to be redrawn each tick

Examples of higher-drain styles:

  • An analog face with a sweeping or ticking second hand

  • A face with an animated mascot, breathing dot pattern, or moving weather visuals

  • A face that shows live heart rate or step count updating every second

Examples of low-drain styles:

  • Simple digital faces that only update each minute

  • Static analog faces with hour/minute hands only

  • Minimalist faces with one or two complications that refresh on a slow timer

Want to check your true battery life? Use TikToc.

If you're trying to measure how long your Pebble actually lasts on a charge, for example, after a firmware update or when troubleshooting fast battery drain, switch to the default TikToc watch face and leave it on for a few days.

TikTok is the simple, classic Pebble watch face that ships on every watch. It updates once per minute and has no animations, no live data, and no extras. It gives you a clean baseline. If your battery still drains quickly on TikTok, the issue isn't your watch face, and it's worth opening a bug report.

To switch back to TikTok: long-press your current watchface (or open the Pebble app on your phone) and select TikTok from your watchface list.
